Master of Applied Cyber Security

Federation University Australia, Ballarat, VIC, Australia

About this program

The Master of Applied Cyber Security covers threat detection, risk analytics, data security, incident response, privacy protection, and security audit and compliance, using tools from vendors including Amazon Web Services and IBM. Core and elective subjects build the skills to analyse, inspect and prevent cyber risk across sectors such as e-commerce, banking, digital health, education, and food and agriculture. A capstone project in privacy, security, trust, analytics or data management lets students apply the coursework to a substantial applied piece of work before graduating.

The code used for the points-tested 189, 190, and 491 pathways. Newer cyber security specialisations (Cyber Security Engineer, Cyber Security Analyst, and others) were split out of this code in 2021 to 2025 ANZSCO updates and sit on CSOL instead; picking the right code matters for which visa applies.
