About this program

This 3-year undergraduate degree has been designed to develop the following 4 graduate capabilities: Capability 1 Scientist and Scholar: Graduates will be applied exercise scientists and research informed scholars with knowledge and technical skills to discuss research in the core exercise science sub-disciplines and analyse information and data to solve problems relevant to exercise science. Capability 2 Exercise Science Professional : Graduates will be effective communicators and highly skilled, competent exercise science professionals designing and delivering safe, client-centred exercise services. Capability 3 Engaged Global Citizen : Graduates will be socially and culturally inclusive exercise science citizens with awareness of local and global public health issues associated with inactivity and who are ready to operate effectively in a range of community and health systems. Capability 4 Professional : Graduates will be ethical and reflective exercise science professionals ready to lead and work collaboratively within teams. In developing these capabilities, the course will meet Exercise Science accreditation guidelines as set out by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). ESSA offer accreditation in Exercise Science (AES), Sports Science (ASpSc), Exercise Physiology (AEP), and High-Performance Manager (AHPM). Typically, Exercise Science is a pre-requisite for study leading to Exercise Physiology accreditation. For both Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology it is possible to accredit university degrees such that all graduates are eligible for accreditation at the AES and/or AEP level. As an AEP you are a recognised allied health professional. ASpSc and AHPM typically require a minimum of AES accreditation plus significant industry experiences.
