Master of Teaching

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Master of Teaching is a graduate-entry qualification for people with an undergraduate degree in any relevant discipline who want to become teachers, offering five specialisations across early childhood, primary, secondary or combined early childhood and primary or primary and secondary education. Coursework builds specific professional teaching knowledge alongside subject content expertise, and professional experience placements across urban, rural, remote or international locations expose students to the genuine diversity of teaching contexts before graduation. Entry requirements vary by specialisation: primary and secondary specialisations require prior relevant study aligned with specific school curriculum learning areas, while secondary specialisations need a substantial major study in a teaching discipline plus a second teaching area. It suits career-changers and recent graduates from any discipline who've decided on teaching as a career, and the specialisation structure means the right entry point depends heavily on a student's existing undergraduate background and which age group or subject they want to teach.
