Master of Teaching in Early Childhood and Primary Education

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Master of Teaching in Early Childhood and Primary Education is a graduate-entry, dual-sector qualification letting students teach across both early childhood settings and primary schools, one of five specialisations under Monash's Master of Teaching. Because it spans two sectors, the course builds teaching knowledge and skills relevant to both age ranges, giving graduates flexibility to work in early learning centres, kindergartens or primary classrooms depending on where opportunities arise. Entry requires at least one year of full-time equivalent prior study relevant to a primary school curriculum learning area, on top of the general credit-average bachelor's degree requirement, reflecting the added complexity of qualifying across two teaching sectors at once. It suits graduates who want maximum flexibility in where they can teach after graduating, rather than committing to either early childhood or primary teaching exclusively, and is a genuinely different qualification from the single-sector Master of Teaching in Early Childhood Education or Primary Education alone.
