Doctor of Philosophy - Creative Arts

Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia

About this program

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Creative Arts gives a candidate the opportunity to pursue an original creative or practice-based research project in depth, under the guidance of a supervisor, producing a thesis or exegesis of no more than 100,000 words that makes a significant, original contribution to the field. Candidates develop independent research skills, including the ability to formulate a project, apply appropriate creative and methodological approaches, and situate the work within the broader creative arts discipline, while working with academics and creative practitioners and attending relevant conferences. Creative arts and performing arts fields are largely absent from Australia's skilled occupation lists, so this qualification is a weaker standalone migration path and is better suited to candidates pursuing an academic, creative, or practice-based career rather than a defined visa nomination route. The course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.
