About this program

Dig into the future of Australia’s advanced manufacturing and technology sectors with this specialised, industry-focused qualification. This course will allow you to progress your career in engineering and technology-driven industries and become a technical specialist, automation technician, or engineering associate.
According to industry trends and the Australian Government’s focus on innovation, professionals with expertise in advanced manufacturing, automation, and digital systems are in high demand. Employers across sectors such as mining equipment, technology and services (METS), aerospace, automotive, and smart infrastructure are seeking skilled graduates, with strong job growth expected over the coming years.
In this associate degree, you will develop practical skills in the application of modern engineering and applied technologies. You will gain specialised knowledge in automation, robotics, digital fabrication, Industry 4.0 systems, CAD/CAM technologies, power generation, and digital process control. Our experienced teachers will ensure you can synthesise your theoretical and practical learning through industry-focused projects and real-world problem-solving activities aligned to contemporary engineering and manufacturing standards.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as an advanced manufacturing technician, automation technician, digital fabrication specialist, or engineering associate in a variety of industries including manufacturing, mining, medical devices, industrial design, and technology services. You will also be on the path to further advanced studies, with articulation options into the Bachelor of Engineering Technologies and related qualifications.

TAFE Queensland's own live course page titles this qualification plainly "Associate Degree in Applied Technologies" (HED012) with no specialisation suffix; its content is entirely about the Advanced Manufacturing specialisation (automation, robotics, digital fabrication, Industry 4.0, CAD/CAM) so this is genuinely the same course as the DB row, just without a bracketed suffix on the live site.
