About this program
The Graduate Certificate in Modern Languages Education at the University of Melbourne gives students a Languages Teaching specialisation over six months full-time or one year part-time, exploring the nature of language and its role in human learning. Four specialist core subjects cover second language teaching methodology, grammar for language teachers, language acquisition and supervised teaching, with 50 credit points toward the Master of Modern Languages Education for students who continue.
Graduates with Victorian Institute of Teaching registration become eligible for language teaching positions in Victorian schools, with the skills to critique and manage culturally and linguistically appropriate curricula.

Admissions
To be considered for entry into this course, you must: Have completed a bachelor honours degree (AQF8) or equivalent in Education. Or Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) in any discipline. And Have completed a graduate diploma (AQF8) or equivalent in Education. And Have completed a major in a language other than English or provide a Statement of Equivalence for the relevant language from an approved test provider . And Be eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
