Course structure
- As a research-only doctorate
- the Doctor of Philosophy (Medicine) has no coursework core or elective list. Admission requires an applicant to first secure a supervisory team within the relevant School and develop a formal Research Proposal describing the intended area of research
- both submitted with the application. Candidature then proceeds through the standard stages of a University of Newcastle research degree: confirmation of candidature
- ongoing supervised research
- and submission and examination of a thesis
- rather than enrolment in a set list of courses
