Course structure

  • As a research-only degree
  • the Master of Philosophy (Computer Science) has no coursework core or elective list. Admission requires an applicant to first secure a supervisory team within the relevant School and develop a formal Research Proposal describing the intended area of research
  • both submitted with the application. Candidature then proceeds through the standard stages of a University of Newcastle research degree: confirmation of candidature
  • ongoing supervised research
  • and submission and examination of a thesis
  • rather than enrolment in a set list of courses

Career & PR pathway

Which careers in Engineering lead to skilled migration depends on the occupation, not the degree title. See the skilled occupation lists guide for which occupations are on each list, and the points calculator to check where you stand.
