Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours)
University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia
About this program
UQ's Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) trains students to become registered dentists at what is considered one of Australia's leading dental schools, based at the purpose-built UQ Oral Health Centre, one of the country's most advanced tertiary oral health facilities. Clinical training starts in simulation clinics and labs from first semester, moves into real patient care by third year through UQ's oral health alliance with the Metro North Hospital and Health Service, and finishes with a 39-week clinical placement across dental clinics in Queensland during the final year. Coursework covers general dentistry alongside specialty areas including periodontics, paediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery, with small cohort sizes giving students close contact with specialist teaching staff. Graduates register as dentists and can pursue further specialisation later through UQ's Doctor of Clinical Dentistry.
