Master of International Economics and Finance

University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

About this program

The Master of International Economics and Finance at the University of Queensland (UQ) is taught at the St Lucia campus in Brisbane by Queensland's largest School of Economics. It combines two study areas, international economics and finance, so graduates can work across public policy and financial markets. The standard program is two years full-time (32 units) for applicants with a bachelor's degree in any discipline. Applicants with a relevant background may complete it in 1.5 years (24 units), and further credit may shorten it again.
Coursework covers economic models, financial markets, international trade and market risk analysis, with practical programming and quantitative skills. UQ lists career outcomes including finance analyst, portfolio manager, quantitative analyst, market risk analyst and pricing strategist, in banking, investment, government policy and international development. International students accepted into full-time study can apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).
