Course structure

Foundation Studies runs over two semesters, with four subjects studied per semester (20 scheduled study hours per week). Each stream comprises six core and two elective subjects, including two common English subjects, Exploring Narratives and Comparative Texts, plus four specialised discipline subjects, with two electives chosen from stream-specific options. Students must enrol in the stream matching their intended RMIT degree in order to meet that degree's entry requirements. All six streams (Art, Design and Architecture; Business; Communication and Social Context; Engineering and Science; Health; IT) share the same CRICOS registration, 108492M

Career & PR pathway

Which careers in Education lead to skilled migration depends on the occupation, not the degree title. See the skilled occupation lists guide for which occupations are on each list, and the points calculator to check where you stand.

Admissions

Applicants must have completed a senior secondary school qualification equivalent to Australian Year 11, with a minimum overall average of 50% (pass average), verified against RMIT's Country Equivalency guide (including whether certified forecast or provisional results are accepted for the applicant's country). Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at commencement. Meeting the minimum academic requirement does not guarantee entry.
