Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management

University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

About this program

UQ's Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management prepares students for management careers across hotels, tourism operators and events, based in Brisbane, one of Australia's major tourist gateways. Students choose between a hotel and hospitality management major or a tourism and event management major, or combine both as a dual major, with core courses in sustainability in tourism and hospitality, visitor experience and marketing, and business information systems. The degree is built around practical exposure rather than classroom theory alone, including work placements, industry site visits, behind-the-scenes tours, and international internship opportunities such as a placement with Disney World Florida. Teaching staff bring current industry research and global sector trends into the classroom, and graduates typically move into roles such as hotel and resort manager, events producer, or food and beverage manager across the hospitality and tourism industry.
